SCHOOL OF DESIGN TOTE BAG

PROJECT BRIEF

This tote bag design for prospective DePaul University School of Design students draws inspiration from the anatomy of typography, embracing a minimalist and clean aesthetic. The tote was designed to get prospective students excited for what they will learn at DePaul University. The design features sleek lines and understated elegance, with a focus on typography elements such as letterforms, serifs, and kerning. The design evokes a sense of sophistication and professionalism while maintaining a modern appeal.

PROCESS

The technical process for designing the tote bag began with defining tote bag specifications and creating detailed digital mockups. Typography and imagery were restricted to certain limits due to the vinyl print process. Once finalized, consideration was given to the vinyl printing method and material constraints, followed by preparation of the design for print. After hand-producing a prototype for assessment, adjustments were made as needed before final production. A black design on a beige tote was chosen to emulate pen on paper.
