PROJECT BRIEF

The project involved creating four distinct cover designs for jazz singles by musician Jonah Schumow. "In Passing" required a dynamic interpretation of a serene photograph, capturing the essence of the track's mood. "Nine Skips" called for a series of illustrations depicting skipping stones, increasing in size. "Chuck" required a hand-drawn illustration that evoked the charm and nostalgia of Charles Schultz's "Peanuts" characters and stories as the music was based on the music of Vince Guiraldi.  "After the Rain" sought a colorful and abstract interpretation of rain to complement the song's atmospheric quality. Each design aimed to encapsulate the unique essence of its corresponding track while engaging listeners visually and emotionally.

PROCESS

In the design process, the creation of four distinctive cover designs were created with digital manipulation of original photographs and hand-drawn elements in Adobe Photoshop. Throughout the process, attention to detail and a commitment to artistic integrity guided the creation of cover designs that authentically resonated with the specific ambiance of the client's musical compositions. Several rounds of feedback occurred to make revisions and create new ideas.
