SHADES OF BLUE

PROJECT BRIEF

Shades of Blue involved creating an exhibition catalog that aimed to explore the emotional and psychological resonances of the color blue through the works of five renowned artists. The booklet design featured works from Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, Yves Klein, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

PROCESS

The design process began with thorough research into the historical and cultural significance of the color blue in art, encompassing both traditional and contemporary perspectives. Extensive exploration of art history alongside psychological studies on the emotive qualities of blue provided foundational insights crucial for curating the catalog's content. Modern design elements were strategically incorporated to juxtapose the fine art aesthetic, aiming to engage contemporary audiences while maintaining reverence for the artistic subject matter. The result was a harmonious fusion of past and present.
